Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...
What are you doing to cope with this?
Going to see a Dr. is great advice the only problem with that is I just switched insurance providers and now am out of state - meaning I cant have a Dr. here. I have to wait till I move in a month and a half to have find a new Dr. I can only be seen on emergency basis here.
I think my mistakes are bringing me down because I am worried about what people would think about me (by people I mean my parents and close family members) and I am embarrassed.
GoldfishCM - This is true. How am I coping? Hmm...talking a lot about it. Trying to name the feeling rather than just feeling it. I have valium and take it on severe nights but try not to take it often.
Moving is a lot of pressure/stress and I am living amongst boxes in a studio apartment so that could also be making this worse right now.
Thank you guys for your support!
Heres something I did to help myself a few years ago when I was at my worst.
It may not be the exact fix for you but maybe it is, or maybe it will give you an idea to find a solution for right now.
At that time I was really having a hard time emotionally and was also very broke and afraid I was going to lose everything including the roof over my head. I started to turn into a "shut-in" because I wanted to avoid everyone and everything. When I realized what I was doing I made an effort to get out and be around other people. It was really hard because at that point I had alienated just about all my friends. I was scared to let my family and few friends I had left know how mentally sick I was. I didnt have money so I could not do normal social outings, plus at that stage I could not deal with interacting socially with people.
So I decided to start volunteering at a refuge. By volunteering I was doing a "busy" activity and also helping others, which helped me feel better. I was still around other people but since there was work to be done there was not a lot of socializing. They were so thankful that I came to help, not realizing how much that experience was helping me! It really was a life-saver for me and I am still a loyal volunteer at least one day a week to this day.
Maybe you can do something like that or find another activity that keeps you busy and around people even if at a distance. Sometimes when I feel lonely I go to a busy place and just watch people (like a restaurant, or mall, or park). Maybe Im just weird LOL but I hope I helped you out a bit. Plus being busy will maybe tire you out and you can sleep more!
Make sure you get a regular workout schedule going in your new location. It will give you a sense of control and will help with the anxiety.
