I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas and a Happy beginning to 2014. I did. It has had its ups and downs but mostly it has been good.
However, I am in freak out mode right now and need support and prayers on my side. I had a cold a few weeks ago and had a cough, it lasted a week and a half and then I noticed a bump on the bottom of my left rib. I examined my rib cage and compared it to the other side and it just didnt look the same, I struggled with should I go to the doctor or am I just being anxious but I bit the bullet and went to the doctor. It only hurt when I played around with it (palpated it) but I thought maybe I cracked a rib coughing. So I went to the doctors Wednesday she examined me and said "it could be a soft tissue injury or possible a fracture" I was ordered an ultrasound and an xray. So yesterday I went to have them both done. I came home and they called about my ultrasound and told me that I have an 8mm cyst on my left kidney. I am awaiting an ok from my insurance to have an MRI done and will find out monday. I was so upset I called off work for the first time ever. I dont know how to feel on one hand it could be nothing but on the other it could be something, and I still dont know what is wrong with my rib, I was so shook up I didnt ask if it was what caused the now pain I have on my left side.
I just needed to get this off my chest and I know that I could just be tweking about nothing but anxiety does this to a person. I keep thinking I have cancer or something and just need some support thank you.

I am glad your Dr. called you so quickly to let you know it is a cyst. I am not a Dr. but I do believe that a cyst and cancer would look very different so I would trust your Dr. when they say it is a cyst.
When I had cysts in/on my ovaries the Dr. explained to me that cyst's are usually sacs that are filled with fluid. Some will dissolve themselves and others need to be surgically removed. I had both. Not sure if this is the same for all cysts.
I did a quick search and kidney cysts CAN " In some cases, cause pain to occur between the ribs". Although I looked on the internet I wouldn't recommend you also search because it may increase your anxiety. If this were happening to me I would not have researched it. I will say that all I researched said they were NOT cancer and were very treatable.
I hope this eases your mind a bit. Take a deep breath and try to reassure yourself that you are healthy and strong.
