Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...
That ill feeling is terrible.
What antidepressant are you on?
I just started on Lexapro, but only find that the Xanax really helps. Maybe starting the new job will help, getting you out of the house. And you are right it is a fight.
I am on Remeron for the depression which is sedating, and they put me back on effexor 75mg to hopefully help with the anxiety. it wasn't helping so on Wednesday I restarted the seroquel. It seems to be somewhat helping with the anxiety. Some days I don't know what's worse the depression or the anxiety.
I'm so tired of this.
use faith as your motive. you have had many successes already. merely build on them. you already have enough faith.
walking by faith is merely doing one thing at a time methodically. create a plan on paper and do each thing at a time.
My therapist tells me that many clients they see say the same thing about wanting to change and heal. There stats say that less than 5% of us really have the courage and persistence to do the work and heal. There is no easy or quick path.
Perseverance and a will that will never quit is what is needed to heal.
My path has taken me towards my fears and away from avoidance. If you learn to accept your thoughts and not fight them you will gain power over them. They will lose their emotional content and have diminishing effect on you.
Good Luck
What do you do when this mood grips you. Can you lessen the duration and intensity of these feelings.
What personality traits do people who find a way to heal have. Are they lucky, have good meds or what?
Will meds cure you?
Does healing happen quickly
fundamentally, first we must decide if our primary motivation is going to be fear or faith. motivated by fear, a person states i will survive. motivated by faith, a person states i will flourish.
moodiness is merely the automatic style in place when we don't construct a better one.
I don't think meds will cure me, but I thought they would help lift my mood and lower the anxiety enough for me to get a better grip. It seemed as though the depression was lessening but then the anxiety was getting worse. Now they both seem really bad.
I will be starting DBT soon, but it is a long slow process.
How do we learn to deal with all of this. I've been trying to read and do small things but as I get older it just seems worse.
THe doctors taking me off my last SSRI seem to be what's set off the anxiety relapse.
I think we need to do our healing and processing when we are in a calm secure place and mood. Our therapist offices should be one of these. It should be a safe secure place where healing and integrating of our troubles takes place..
When I am feeling depressed or have been triggered to an acute stage, all my energy is directed at limiting the time and intensity of the problem.
For myself, I found another safe place when I meditated. I could experience my anxiety, trauma and demons while meditating and feel safe. My trauma and anxiety were set free to expand and grow as powerful as they could. I just observed without emotion. A witness. I watched where my fear would settle, how it would travel and the intensity of it's power. Then my anxiety had a definite ceiling of how powerful it could be. It was not that scary anymore.
In time my anxiety was a thing I could use as energy up my spine to meditate deeper.
This may sound out there for some but meditation will heal you if you just put in the time. It is a path that will work. Not the only path but what have you got to lose. It is free and you can do it in your own house.
I've found after dealing with anxiety and depression for several years that sometimes (maybe all the time) it takes putting yourself through more anxiety and stress to conquer it -- i.e. confront your demons.
It's fine to take drugs or meditate or use any of the other therapies or stress reducing exercises but that's not the cure. Once you get your symptoms under control enough to take a breath you need to start identifying your fears and find ways to deal with them. (Rationalize, desensitize through exposure, etc.)
My severe panic attacks and anxiety are cured. My childhood trauma and complex PTSD and chronic pain are challenges.
Meditating brought me into intimate contact with my issues, my demons and fears. I learned and observed them. I grew to see they were illusions of my overactive conscious mind. This mind does nothing but judge things.
During meditation I learned a way to heal my nerve endings and bring peace to my ravaged nervous system. My meds were antidepressants, Ativan, ambien and the other usual suspects. !6 months later I take no meds for my PTSD or Anxiety.
My anxiety is now my friend and a companion. If I have a panic attack or high anxiety, I just pull my mind away and observe, like I have done everyday while meditating. The anxiety will dissipate and has no attachment to anything concrete. So no big deal.
I came back here to help anyone who finds or needs a path to happiness and your life back.
