Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...
In my experience with panic attacks especially very severe ones like you had last night there is always remnants left over the next day. For me personally I am just exhausted and my hands shake and I am incredibly sore through out my body. I was told it is caused by the dump of adrenaline we get and it causes our body to go into over drive. So yeah your feeling pretty normal for an after attack. Best to you and hope you feel better.
Now thing of anxiety in the same way. The anxiety strikes - its your mind and body's way of saying hey something is wrong. I need you to take care of me. So you need to-unanxiety yourself. Do what ever you have to do to make yourself feel good and don't feel bad or guilty about it because you are healing yourself. You are being proactive and nurturing to yourself. Sleep if you are tired, now is not the time to do a hundred things. Rest if you are weary. Don't starve yourself or don't pig out-both will give body symptoms that will just make your body feel awful and make you feel anxious. So eat smaller meals every three hours to keep your blood sugar level. Incorporate good feel foods like yogurt, oatmeal, dark chocolate, salmon, nuts, milk, turkey, spinach. Now you know you are taking the best care of yourself food wise . An you know you take care of yourself by getting enough rest. Nurturing-get the idea. Get your body relaxed try this exercise it helps to make you feel grounded because when we have anxiety/panic we feel out of control and then we start feeling like we can't do things, or we can't concentrate. This exercise(s) will help you feel grounded which will help you feel grounded thus more focus and able to handlke things that come your way. ****Imagine the yourself as a big , big oak tree. You trunk is so wide and thick . Nothing can knock it down. Your limbs (arms go far and wide. They are stron and thick. They are aas wide as your house. Oh your feet and legs (the roots) go ever so deeply into the earth. Watch as the roots travel deep into the earth for miles and for mile wide and they even have little off shoots that reach as far away as your Aunt ____ she is one of your off shoots - thus making you evcen more stable and ground. Feel the strength. You feel grounded and able to withstand any storm. Do this whenever you have stressful thoughts. Now you should be feeling strong and confident. Here is another exercise to calm the body immediately you can even do it in a anxiety/panic attack. Lay down Try to take a deep breath. Close your eyes. Tense up your toes and hold tense for five seconds-counting one-one thousand two , and so on. then do your foot, ankle, continue to every part of your body. Feel how now your body is really relaxed. Ok now you have two more tools to use. Try yoga -even doing just one or two moves everyday-you know you are doing things to take care of yourself. You do know what to do. Change your atmosphere: if the Tv is blasting and the area is a mess and you have papers piled sky high this will give any one the atmosphere of stresws, so calm your atmospheree, play some soothing music, light a candle , if a clear dining room table or kitchen table makes you feel better than clear off the table. Now your atmosphere is calm and relaxing. (if you notice we are taking care of all the senses here sight, smell sound) touch -if you can put on silky pj or flannels, or sexy underwear under your everyday cloths whatever really makes you feel good. Put on lotion and enjoy the smell, the touch and how good it feels on your skin or spray on your favorite perfume - sometimes I dab on a little old spice -I find that smell comforting ? Your nurturing your body doesn't that feel good? Even if you have lot to do or have to be somewhere slow down. Slow down your day. Just thinking that will relax you. Everything will still get done. Eliminate the to do list -give yourelf two or thrre things to do and after you acdcomplish them put those on your did list and pat yourself on the back and do something small for yourself as an reward-file your nails, or read an article that you been wanting to read) You will get everything done just like you would with a "to do list" but you are doing it nurturing and you are in control, not your list. Watch what you tell yourself. If you tell yourself you look awful, you look fat, your hair is blah, etc. You will actually look blah and feel fat. Know this and do something about it. Look for the positive and or do something -if you think your hair looks blah fix it . You know how to look to make yourself feel good, so do it. Look for the good and you will see the good. Look for the bad and you will see the bad. This goes for how you look at your mate, your day, yourself, the things that have happened in your life, your body, even your symptoms of anxiety. So watch what you tell yourself. Are you feeling better yet? If not keep working at it. To help settle you mind : play a video game, do a sadoko puzzle, or soltaire. Didn't that keep your mind buy and you didn't think about anything except the game. Notice that and notice how your breathing sloweed down and while you were doing it it really felt good. You felt good. Another feel good tool you have under your belt. Getting that one thing done that you have been putting off for whatever reason - maybe you thought after this anxiety thing, or your too stress, whatever push yourself to do it or at least one step . It will be one less stress factor off your mind. If you are worried about a medical condition-symptoms - just call the doctor, or even the pharmacist, and be over with it. Now you relieved another stress factor. Take a multivitamin-don't take supplements that are not FDA approved - since they are not regulated the dosages can be off-they can claim anything. Go with good old one -a day= or centrum or storebrands. Now you added another feel good , nurturing thing to your list. StaRT a gratitude jpurnal and list everything you are grateful fopr and as you wite thing of how grateful you are for each thing spend a minute or two thinking of that one item that you listed. Do this ecvery day.--and look and read it when you are feeling down or anxious. Be truly grateful for the slightest thing -having a computer . Having enough money for a computer. Being able to look up fun stuff or important stuf. Or how the sun shines through the window. If you are a believer pray, praise and gbe thankful. Sometimes when I am sick I imagine Jesus coming in and just sitting with me and he puts his arm around me and just at sitws. Doesn't say anything- sort of like saying I here for you - I will go through this with you and it gives me a calm feeling. Sorry of this offends you. I have a lot of bible veres that I have around the house to give me strength and peace.. Keep working on healing yourself- you do have tools to heal your self. Remember you really do know how to take care of yourself. Even calling a doctor if taking care of your self-ita a good thing! I know you will have a better day today. Own this day , it is yours to do whatever you want. (Stay away from negative people and situations if you can)
You guys are so beautiful (:
