Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...
First I am so glad that you have found a partner. Especially one who understand your anxiety as he has it too. Although I am sorry that you both suffer, having a partner that truly "gets it" is helpful.
As for his anxiety manifesting in stomach problems, I know two people who suffer this way as well. My daughter and my best friend. My daughter has found some relief from Omeprozole which is a potent anti-acid med. She takes it first thing in the morning as this is when her anxiety is the worst...then she takes XanaxXR 0.5 mg to help with the anxiety. This combination, although not perfect has alleviated the symptoms quite a bit.
My best friend sounds even closer to what your partner is describing. He used to throw up every day before school when younger and then before work as he got older. It was hell for him as he describes it. Although, now that he is 49 now and no longer needs to throw-up, he does take Klonopine 0.5 mg every morning to stop panic attacks.
I hate to say it but I really feel that for both of you, medication is what is in order with anxiety this severe. Since I also have panic attacks, I take Xanax 2mg a day and I no longer have these attack due to it.
If he (or you) are not on meds, then I highly recommend that you see a good psychiatrist so that you can get the meds that will help you feel so much better. I wish there were some other way, but this is what will work.
