Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...
I had to keep going: solo mother, starving children etc. So I hunkered down. I endured like a tick. Like a concrete block in a hurricane. I just battened the hatches and expected my life to be one long anxiety attack from the moment I left home, to the moment I got home again. It worked.
Because I expected to be in one long panic attack, I would talk to myself: don't speak, don't tell how you are feeling, if someone says hi say hi back. Time was a big deep bubble of hell for me. Bottomless but fluid. I gritted my teeth and I put one foot in front of the other all day long.
I had to wake early in the morning, because the morning panic attack would send me sideways. I would have cried myself to sleep the night before, i would wake, and within 30 seconds the memory of the life I was having to endure would land on me and the anxiety attack would hit. I had to have 1/2 hr lying there in bed just to get over it, before I could get up. So I set my alarm 1/2 hr early.
Think of this hell as a kind of gauntlet. A trial by fire. If you can overcome this: if you can storm through it, nothing will ever be as bad again. Partly because you'll never let it, but partly because you will have faced and overcome the demon.
So go to work tomorrow, and the next day, and all the days you have to, and get those hours. In a month this hell will be over: but what will you have gained? You sure don't want to have to do this again.
