If you "do nothing" when anxiety arises, you are essentially a victim just waiting for the fear. However, if you can "do something" when the anxiety starts to rise you instantly empower yourself and you are no more a victim. It takes time and lots of practice to fully benefit from this, but it is possible and you can can do it.
What I suggest is that you buy a book on CBT and Exposure Therapy - this is how I created recovery myself. Also pay attention to "self care" - diet, exercise, meditation, sleep, water intake - there is so much every day that we can do to help ourselves - and rarely do we engage it on a daily basis. Recovery takes time - s start the process but be patient. Change is created in each moment of the day - but is rarely noticed until you are months or years removed from it.
Wish you the best.
