the key is to not look at things through 'rose tinted specticals', but like you say, challange the negative thoughts and replace them with more 'realistic' ones.
sounds easy, but when your in a cloud of anxiety, its very hard to think straight at all, this is why the 'skill' must be practiced most when you feel well, so you are ready for the bad times - its like with relaxation, at first when i tried out the exercises, it brought on full blown panic! cos relaxing was a strange feelin to me, but i stuck with it, an especially when i felt 'well' i practiced, cos its easier to concentrate an stuff. an now i look forward to doing my relaxation exercises, and can get straight into it, an its comforting, like getting into a warm bath. i guess its the same with 'changing your thoughts' - if it dosnt work at first stick with it, an remember to do it when your well - i myself am battling with this, its tough, but i keep trying, and hope that one day positive thoughts will flood my brain as readily as the negative ones do these days, i hope that thinkin positive will become as natural as breathing, an i strongly believe i or anyone who can achieve this will be cured! how positive is that?! vicky XXX
