The relationship ended. Looking back I can see why.
We were both in complete denial about everything. I would try to help her and she would not bother and I would not look at myself in the mirror and face up to my issues.
The fact you understand your issue is a fantastic start. I would suggest going to therapy together. Talk to them. Tell them how much you want the relationship to work. Show them how much effort you are willing to put in to make it succeed. Explain that a relationship is a team effort and you both have to work together to make it work.
My ex used to talk the talk but never walk the walk. Its ok just saying you understand your issue but unless your going to do something about it then it won't work.
Relationships are hard. They need so much work and effort. School, parents, college, TV, media they never show how much effort it takes to be in a good relationship.
Talk to them about couples therapy. If they are not interested or can't be bothered to put in the effort then alarm bells should start ringing.
They might have issues that they have not yet come to recognise. Remember you are not the faulty one in the relationship. It takes two to build a successful relationship.
We have to realize when it is time to leave. Without blame game.
If you are sick..and you don't feel loved appropriately...remember..for better or for worse.
if it isn't working..than...time to change.
