Tonight I want to just scream! I signed guardianship of my 2 young daughters over to my mother and step father at e beginning of the year due to my being in treatment for addiction and my mental health issues. Now I'm starting to really worry about this. I am very much in the picture. I spend most every day at their home with the family, but things are a mess. My youngest is very rambunctious and has some behavioral problems. I very much disagree with how they are being raised. My mother and step dad do not see eye to eye most everything. My step dad is a very angry man and I am worried he is going to snap and hurt one of them. He will not let go and let us do the disciplining or anything, really. He had to be in control of everything. He disrespects and is constantly belittling my mother. He gives into my daughter always so that it's easier for him to deal with her and she is not getting the structure and discipline that she needs. My daughter runs the show. She's not even 5. I've seen him grab her, smack her, yell at her and call her disgusting. When my mother tries to step in, he tells her to shut up, mind her business and other very disrespectful things. They argue constantly and it's all around just a terrible situation. I try my best to step in and help, but am often overruled by dear step daddy. I don't know where my boundaries should be, I don't know what to do anymore. It hurts me.so badly to see how things are. My daughters behavior is out of control, my step dad is out of control, my mother has no control and I feel like i have none as their mother. It's breaking my heart. I fear that my child is only going on be more messed up in the long run. I am doing all I can to better myself so that I can step back in as their mother and permanent caregiver, but at the same time don't want to rush things for my own well being. I've never felt at such a loss before. I'm afraid to say anything to him because he will blame it all on me. Yes, ultimately it is my fault because I'm the one who couldn't take care of them, but they chose to stand in and be their guardian's. I don't know what to do. It's extremely stressful for all involved. Mostly, I worry about my kids. As I stated before, I'm afraid he will snap and really hurt one of them.
