Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...
I have anxiety about my anxiety? does that count?
I also don't know what I'd do or be without OCD.
Growing up I was forced to attend many family functions (step-family, that is) and was constantly surrounded by people who didn't know me and didn't really want to get to know me but were being forced out of family obligation to talk to me anyway.
It was so frustrating and so uncomfortable. I really didn't care about being there and it ruined a lot of holidays for me.
I know it's not the same as a funeral, but I know how you feel regarding all the people and not knowing how to interact with them. Just be yourself and do what you have to do and you'll get through it. It's one event and it'll be over before you know it.
Regarding obsessing over obsessing? That's very normal for people with anxiety disorders. I have anxiety thinking about my anxiety. I worry sometimes that if it gets bad again, it'll ruin the good things I have going right now, and sometimes it starts to spin out of control. That's the part of the terrible anxiety cycle we all have to work on breaking.
Try reminding yourself: There's nothing wrong with you, you can't control the bad things that happen in life, all you can do is try to be happy and hope for the best.
It's tough, but you're tough too, you can totally overcome it. Good luck at the funeral. I hope some of this was helpful.
