Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...

This site helped me get through a rough patch before, so hopefully I can find the same kind of peace now, as I did before, in the comfort of knowing there are more people just like me out there.
To sum up my experiences back in 2007 when I first found this site, my grandfather, who I loved so, so much passed away suddenly, throwing me into a sea of panic and anxiety. For over an entire month, I was terrified to leave my house to go anywhere...even to get the mail outside for fear i would have a panic attack and no one would be thre to help me.
My panic attacks were triggered mostly by my inner ear issues and the dizzy feeling associated with those. The panic attacks exacerbated the dizziness...it was a vicious cycle. My doctor prescribed me a small dosage of Lexapro and Xanax when needed (I rarely took them because I don't like medicine to begin with). I went to counseling and things got so much better. Since then, I still got the occasional panic attack, but it wasn't anything I couldn't handle. I found I could easily talk myself through them.
Fast forward to now. A few weeks ago I had a health scare that really seemed to push me over the edge again. Though the doctor gave me good news, since then, I've been having a gnawing anxious feeling just about every second of the day. I wake up too early in the morning feeling really anxious and can't fall back asleep...and my panic attacks have come back hard. I find it harder for me to talk myself through them because the symptoms this time are different than the last time.
I no longer have the dizziness, but the panic attack makes me feel, and fear, like I'm going crazy or will lose control of my mind. It's a terrible feeling because it makes me feel hopeless, like I can't control what my brain does at all. I'm so afraid of going off the deep end or falling into a deep depression. Does anyone else have those symptoms with their panic attacks?!
I know this current state has been a long time in the making. I have had a rough year and a few months and have had so many changes in my life. My husband and I broke up last year, and with him went many of our mutual friends. I also lost one of my best friends (long story), moved to a new office for work and have a boss I am not really a big fan of.
Still, I know I'm blessed with a lot. I have a great family and a boyfriend who is so caring and supportive.
I'm trying to stay positive, but it's so hard. I know I can get through this again. I just need some hugs and reassurance along the way. I hope that I, too, can help some others along the way, as well.
Thank you for reading. I'm sorry it's so long-winded, but writing it was kind of therapeutic.

Hang in there. I have had a few bouts of severe anxiety and depression over the last ten years. High times of stress seemed to trigger them for me and then I would be "fine" for years. It's so difficult, but have comfort that you have gotten through this before and you WILL get through this again. Take care.
