Hi! I couldn't find a lot of helpful information about it. My insurance does not cover it and after a few weeks on it, I can't tell that it helps me at all, but I have narcolepsy, vitamin deficiencies, a lot of other issues, so it could just be me or one of the other million and a half things I take. I was hoping you may share some of the sites you found information at if you have time. Thanks!

I posted something on Viibryd a few days ago. It works in as little as one week. It claims to have low sexual side effects(15% compared to placebo). It is marketed by the lab as Celexa/ Lexapro(Forest Labs). They claimed Celexa would have a low incidence of sexual dysfunction, but wound up after marketing studies and trials, it was not the case. Forest also claims Viibryd will have a low incidence of sexual dysfunction, but early trials and dispensing data are showing this to be as of yet, inconclusive. It is not on most health insurance formularies, and is expensive, while there are proven, effective SSRIs on the 4 buck list. Viibryd is different than an SSRI, although it works on serotonin, and act as a serotonin agonist. Here's the one you want to be looking out for. It's called Serdaxin. Still in trials, but looks very promising. It is not an SSRI. Have a look:

It should read Viibryd incidence of sexual dysfunction: Less than 3 per cent compared to placebo. SSRIs and SNRIs: Up to greater than fifteen percent compared to placebo. Remeron(mirtazapine) is good, very good in many cases, with a rapid onset therapeutic response and is better tolerated when put up against many SSRI/SNRI class medications. It has been used as an appetite stimulant, though, so expect weight gain as a side effect. It can cause lucid dreams, nightmares, nocturnal emissions(wet dreams), spontaneous orgasms, but these are some of the less common or rarer side effects, the bigger ones being the usual, like dry mouth, blurred vision, constipation, vertigo. It also has a withdrawal symptoms profile similar to that of benzodiazepines, so should be discontinued slowly if you decide to stop it. But it is a very good medication.

I just started taking Viibryd a week ago. I'm still on 10 mgs (my doctor actually gave me two starter packs with the instructions to take each dosage for twice as long before going on to the next).

So far I've noticed a lot of side effects, but with a mild improvement in my overall mood with regards to anxiety and depression. The side effect that's been the most troublesome for me is bouts of severe nausea that can hit at any time during the day or night. In addition to this has been mild headaches and a general feeling of being "out of it".

The best indication that my anxiety is improving is that I've only taken Xanax once during the last week. I'm hoping to see a continuing decrease in my Xanax use as my Viibryd dosage increases. I'll try to give updates on how I'm doing over the next couple of weeks.

Just a note: I've been on almost every other anti-depressant on the market and none of them have helped. The med that helped me the most was lamotrigine which is used to treat bipolar disorder, but at $240 a month, it wasn't a long term option. I'm guessing this may be a problem with Viibryd as well, since it's so new.
