I have become outrageously straight talking. Tell mum to pull her head out of her arse. Tell her to get a life. If she is having a GAD attack she can have it in her room on her own dime. You don't have to be the victim of her giant psychological screen dump.
In fact I would leave if I could. Don't live with her. Don't talk to her when she does this. Make yourself unavailable for it. My counsellor calls it a 'racket' - it's my mother's way of righting the power/psychological balance, dominating our lives, she shows up, rants her head off, purges all her crap all over me, and then walks away feeling fine while I'm bleeding on the floor wanting to die, hugely triggered into a giant anxiety attack and unable to continue with all of MY responsibilities because they've been blown out of the water. She has a fantastic knack of having 'heart scares' on the nights before I have exams, as well.
I now don't let her get the second sentence in and she hates it, tries to dump on the next daughter, and the next, but they're getting wise, too. If you don't lie down and enable them, they can't do this to you. She's basically pooing on you.
