lexapro dosage

i just start taking lexapro 30 mg i was on 25 mg i was wondering if anyone taking this much i am scared i feel so sick to my stomach and more anxious.please any input will help thank u.

I took 20mg once a day and did fine. Everyone is different and takes more for some. I think 20mg is the highest but i am no doctor. call your pharmacist and ask him or her they will be able to tell you if it is safe. Just remeber it is your body and if you are not comfortable with it tell your doctor. good luck

took lexapro for awhile, worked okay i think, doc wanted better, switched to cymbalta, mistake. i didn't have any side effects w/lex GL

based on your mood maybe be I should start using 30mg :)

But seriously, its absolutely fine as far as I know. Some people take as much as 40.

After 5 weeks on 10mg., my doctor agreed to change it to 20 mg.....I don't see any difference. Going to a psychiatrist Thursday and see what he thinks. Hoping he knows a little more than my general family doctor.

Im on 30 mg per day my side effects are being tired all the time which could be helped by working out which I can't seem to fit in my day! The dr. Tells me it is still not a high does. Have gone ip from 10 to 20 now to 30 mgs. I hope to be able to taper down sometime this year once I cam get my anxiety calmed down. Hang in there!

My pdoc told me that the highest dose recommended by the drug company is 20mg, but most pdocs will prescribe as high as 40mg. I am on 20mg and doing OK. At my last visit, I wanted him to up my dose b/c I'm still anxious, but instead he added in Neurontin, a mood stabilizer, and it has helped soooooo much. And I've been on it less than a week! If the lexapro is making you anxious, your dose may be too high, or it may be the wrong antidepressant for you. Definitely talk to your pdoc about it!

hi, i have been on lexapro 20 mg for about a year now. i think i might be at the tolerance level now where it isn't helping anymore, since my anxiety has been pretty high over the last few weeks. my pcp put me on a 40mg dose about a month ago because i also have OCD, but after a few days on 40 mg i had to go back down to 20 because it was making me feel like a zombie.

were you on a lower dose of lexapro before you took 30 mg? if you started off at 30 mg then it will take a few weeks before the drug starts to take effect in terms of your anxiety. you can always talk with your doctor about alternative treatments. good luck!
