It is my 5th day on 5 mg of lexapro, I originally went to my doctor for anxiety and he prescribed me .5 mgof xanax as needed which become three or more a day. After 8 months he told me he was weaning me off tgw xanax and placing me on lexapro. The xanax did the trick for my anxiety like -nothing else has, I have tried prozac in the past. I am eating okay now after the nausea has almost passed. I've started working out again and feel like my moods at times are more upbeat and. stable. However I get agitated at my boyfriend more than usual and sleep a lot more than normal. Could this be from the xanax combination? I feel unable to focus and am worried abt going back to college next semester. Any advice or similar experiences?

Well I have been on lexapro for about a month now and I had nausea at first too.

I take klonopin for my anxiety which is in the same family with xanax. Benzo's. I havent noticed myself being more agitated. I have noticed my depression being better. Just keep an eye on it. I HATE to ask this bc I HATE to be asked this but it could have something to do with it... are you pms'in? That makes me agitated. But during the first 2 weeks I was more sleepy too.

You might be monitoring your symptoms too much like I do. Not that you are but I do that. Not trying to take my probs out on you.

So I am having similar experiences.

That could be it (pms-ing). I think I will just keep better tabs on daily exercise and nutrition. Could also be why. I'm hoping the 10 mgs do the trick, I think the symptoms are becoming more tolerable, each day. I just hate the trial and error of. anti dependants, I know its necessary, just doesn't seem healthy! I too hate meds

I know everybody is different but this is in my opinion a wonder drug, been on 10mg for a couple of years and life is good now....

Lexapro did nothing for me except side effects. My first day on Zoloft was the beginning of my new life. I couldn't believe the difference in me in just one week. If i had only been given this the first time around i wonder how my life would be now. It is what it is, I am just grateful I have found balance in my life again because stress can kill you.

I have. a feeling this is not the end of the road, I'm giving it a few more weeks... ugh... and than letting my Dr know that I'm just feeling blah. It could be due to a lack of support system, but I just want to stay in bed all day which, can't blame him, drives my boyfriend crazy. We'll see. I just feel almostemotionless, thanks for the advice!

When I first start Lexapro, I felt aggitated too. I read the side effect and that is one of the symptoms and it should go away after a couple of weeks. I still feel a sense of agitation when I am pms-in and I have been on Lexapro for almost two years. But I just tell myself it won't last and it doesn't.

i also had an agitated feeling when i started lexapro, almost like i couldn't sit still, couldn't focus. but it went away after a couple of days. i also slept a little more, but wanting to sleep a lot could be because you are feeling a bit depressed about this situation. i think that many ssri's can take up to 4-6 weeks to reach their full potential as far as effectiveness, so you may want to just stick it out a bit longer

I think I will keep trying the lex until my samples run out. I know it can take time for ssri's to work, maybe I am expecting to much, my main concern I plan to bring up on the 12th, my follow up is my lack of focus and lethargy makes it difficult thinking abt going back to school, I hate for him to think I just want more meds but I don't think lexapro alone is going to do it, I am thinking I may have ADHD which could be causing my anxieties
