Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...
In reality we each need to try and figure out how to deal with our symptoms and issues because they don't just magically go away. To boot, every time I turn around theres one new thing to deal with! LOL
Maybe you need providers that are a bit more nurturing and help you find solutions. Otherwise the next time you may feel shy about sharing something with them and what kind of help are they to you then? I'm not saying to just go out and get a new doctor and counselor, but maybe let them know that you need them to take your concerns more seriously and help you find ways to deal with it and validate you.
And quarterflash makes a good point that if you keep fixating on this symptom it will take over. So maybe do what they teach us in meditation...you don't ignore the tension or pain in your body, or the random thoughts that keep popping in rudely....just notice them and then let your mind move on to a more positive thought. We also make up our own mantras (a short statement we say to ourselves repeatedly to get us out of a difficult momentlike I can do this or One moment at a time. Sounds a bit hinky but you dont need to tell anyone what your mantras are ;-D
I also had these horrible palpitations and would get really anxious about them, but then my doctor told me that every single person (with or without anxiety) has stronger palpitations during the day, but most of the times we don't feel them because we're distracted with somehing else. Of course, us anxious people, we multiply these palpitations by a thousand and make them much worse than they are. What really helped me was to think: OK, they're palpitations, they will go away in a second, and just put my mind in something else. I know it sounds stupid but what really also helped was to think "Hey, my heart is working really fast, good thing is woking and not stopping!" lol I don't know why but it helped me. Anyways, good luck.
