Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...
Okay you're a senior. (So is my son.) You're almost 18, and probably the most important lesson to learn this year is how to handle situations like this. (You've got the rest of your life to go back to school if you want to.)
1) Email all the teachers of classes that you're worried about. Find out how you actually ARE doing. Without knowing a thing about you, you may be getting A's, or you may be failing...so find out.
2) After you get responses from all of your teachers (with online school, you should get responses ideally within 24 hours, at most 48), then email the school guidance office. Discuss your anxiety, concerns about the workload, and the best way to proceed.
You may need/want to: 1) readjust your time management, 2) readjust your expectations, 3) drop a class, 4) change a class (say from a higher level English to a lower level), 5) or maybe, possibly, you're doing better than you realize.
In any case, the guidance office should be able to give you feedback from the teachers on how you're doing.
IF you don't get responses from any of the above....email the principal.
Identifying and dealing with issues at the BEGINNING of the school year, is excellent. (I hope that you jot this down, because someday you'll be asked in an interview how you deal with a challenging situation, and THIS is exactly the stuff that will make you sound GOOD in an interview....)
***My son didn't believe me, but used the example I told him to anyway. A year later, he told me that I was right. That doesn't happen to often. And I am right...this will sound great...EVEN if things don't go ideally from here on.***
And, in case this needs to be said, instructors don't judge students personally on the basis of how they're doing in class so you don't need to be worried at all about that. Your instructors will be happy to hear from you!
This will give you wonderful experience in so many ways. You'll learn so much this year! Not only will you learn the content, but you'll develop so many other important skills. You can do this.
And I'm so sorry, by they way, about the kitten! But it wasn't your fault. Or your dog's. Your dog was just being a dog and you certainly never planned for that to happen.
