Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...
Ultimately, people don't feel as bad about you as you think they do. Your friend may well be totally happy to have you in the group. You're not a burden. You have something to contribute. And 7 for a group video is way better than 6. It's only been one weekend. They haven't plotted out the whole project yet. :D
you might be a bit embarrassed about this situation, but it will be good to get into a group and everyone will very quickly forget how it happened. You will also get to know people and that will help erode the sense of isolation.
Don't give up on yourself. Being shy is something a lot of us have had to endure and it's important not to let your life suffer for it.
when I was shy, I believe I had severe anxiety. I couldn't put myself forward because I was so close to the edge emotionally I couldn't take rejection. And I'd had a lot of bullying, beatings up, etc in primary and intermediate school, so I knew what was possible to happen to me.
So I self-isolated. And I didn't have to do group work. I have really only come back to myself now, as a woman in my 40s, now that I've got over the anxiety and found myself in a workplace that nurtured me, for about 3 yrs now, and has made me feel safe to come out of my shell. I recently did a group task at university that involved 4 of us (but we were put in the group by the tutor) and got along just fine.
So please talk about the situation with your teacher, and if the teacher can't understand, talk to the dean or the school counsellor. Don't let yourself fall between the cracks. It was I think unfair for the teacher to make you group up with friends because it immediately penalises the shyer students.
