Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...

I keep having these weird pressure feelings in my head I have been told over and over that its nothing more then anxiety. I dont feel anxious so I don't understand why I am feeling this and of course once i feel something is when i get scared.....So do the physical symptoms hit us out of the blue? Sometime this anxiety stuff confuses me...

First I would get a medical checkup to rule out any physical cause. If they rule that out then it pobably is anxiety related and you are now stuck in its vicious circle. The good news is you can get through it if you learn how to use CBT exercises like the TEA form thought countering exercise which will teach you how to think more realistically and nip your anxiety in the bud. I thought I was doomed to a life of anxiety before my man bought me the cbt book by Sam Obitz and I started doing the TEA forms everyday. Once you get the hang of them you will feel a lot better, but you have to interrupt the cycle if you want lasting relief.

IS THE FEELINGS LOUD NOISES IN YOUR HEAD LIKE IN TIME WITH YOUR HEART BEAT ???

Good question janeyjane. I would not be at all surprised if they are as I had a similar heart beat related problem once.

I worked with a CBT therapist and it was the best decision I ever made. I have been off meds for a long time now and all I really do to keep my anxiety under control is the TEA forms coupled with exercise almost everyday.

Shrute, that's really encouraging to hear, thanks. I have heard the TEA forms are the best long term thing for anxiety and panic, but I it always good to hear from people that have been using them longer than I have been. I exercise a bit but could probably benefit from doing it more often so thanks for that piece of advice also :)

Shrute I am thinking about adding some more exercise to supplement my TEA forms now and was wondering what kind that you do? Thx.

Ronsgirl, When I have a problem that seems to be more challenging I always do the putting things back into perspective exercise and it usually gives me more thoughts I was unaware of that I can then counter in a TEA form. They work really well together and I think it will accelerate your progress.

Thx Jack, it probably wouldn't hurt for me to do that more often :)

I once had that feeling after taking meds. I went to the doctor and got different meds and it went away.
