Hi all,
I'm about to leave for a Halloween party in my sexy Donald trump costume. I admit to having some trepidation, because I am sober and have social anxiety and parties are sometimes anxiety-making for me.
I do not plan on drinking, nor do I think I will. I plan on staying with the friends I'm arriving. Safety at parties, especially while wearing heels and tight clothing, is extremely important.
I know I always have a bottle of Xanax in my purse if anything gets weird, so there's always that if I have any trouble. I'm going to wait to take a Xanax until i decide I need one. I might not. It might be fine.
We're not staying late which I'm really glad about. I get anxiety when I am at a party too long and it starts to feel stale.
Then there's always the douchebags who when they meet me ask me what I do and I have to use a lot of evasive diversions not to say I'm on SSDI because I'm bathshit crazy.
Yet as much as crowded social situations are anxiety-making, I trust the friends that I am going with. Hopefully this will be fine. it might actually be fun.
Anyone have any tips for dealing with anxiety at parties?

Years ago, I won a mirrored armoire from my job. It's in my bedroom but I rarely stand in front of it. Yesterday, I had to have a dexascan done so I had to change into a gown. There was a full length mirror in the changing room. I'm aware that I gained 5 to 7 pounds over the last year from cheating on Keto but I didn't know what it looked like. It was a reality check.

"don't be a hate hole" has been one of my recent mantras which seems to be escaping my mouth more and more often. it emerges when i am faced with the endless list of chores i would rather not deal with. insurance. head lice. bureaucracy. in-laws. the list goes on and on and on and on, ad infinitum.reality checks requested. am i making sense?"ever'thin they is but loving leaves a rust on your...

People were nice. People I didn't know talked to me. I met some people who's names I forgot. Everyone was friendly. I didn't drink or feel tempted to drink although my friends drank a bottle of wine each so were quite gregarious and filled up the spaces when I was shy. It ended up being fun.
I am glad to be home safe and sound tho.
Hurrah for enjoying the experience and for noticing your anxiety level was there, balancing out with the fun times!
