Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...

SO I have delt with anxiety my whole life, always dubbed the worry wart. I get super overwhelmed by little things, and big things just floor me. something as simple as an unknown phone number shoots my pule rate up. I have recently made the decision to go back to school for my masters, that would require one year of pre reqs before applying.
This makes me SO ANXIOUS for SO MANY REASONS
I have to set up and schedule the pre reqs at a different school
these classes have to be accepted by the other school
the fact that I schedule them, myself
what if all 8 classes work out but there is 1 class that doesn't work out and then I have to wait a whole other year
The lack of organization of it all just makes me so anxious
I am meeting with advisers to help guide me, and help lay out a path for me to follow.
When I speak with my friend who is also going back to school and doing pre reqs about feeling so anxious she says stuff like she isn't anxious and she just knows its what she wants to do so she feels good about it. I know she is trying to help, but this makes me feel so so so much worse.
I know this is what I want to do. I'm just so anxious about it, it's alot of time and money that I will be investing, but I know I will feel so proud when I complete this.
Is there anyone in similar shoes as me? How do you handle yourself in anxious situation? Is she right? should I not follow through with this? or is that my anxiety talking.
When I get anxious like this i feel like i can't function, I cant focus I just get a knot in my stomach and shut down. I want to overcome this. Need advice.

i've been in a similar situation.....i was in a program that i had to take 2 years on classes then apply for the program....then once i got into the program it took 3 semesters long.....it was one semester of 5 classes, 4 face to face and on online the second semester was the same and the last semester was one online class.....for the last semester we had to 120 practicum hours....we had to interpret-American Sign Language-for 120 hours.....when i heard this i almost had a panic attack.....i didn't know what to do....where was i supposed to get 120 hours??? in the end i was able to do and finish it before the due date....i was anxious before all of this, but my teachers really helped me through it.....if i was anxious about a test or something i would ask them for help and they would help me.....you'll be really proud of yourself when you complete this, you said so yourself.....use that as motivation.....use some anxiety relieving techniques to help calm you down.....lavender is a soothing scent and i know that lotion helps.....i hope this helps....if you wanna talk, please feel free to message me

Congratulations on your decision to return to school.. I think that anxiety, to some degree, happens to everyone or nearly everyone when faced with a major life change. Your advisor will answer any questions or concerns you have about whether or not your classes will transfer. Check each course before taking it to be sure each one is accepted. See if you can find the syllabus for each course so that you can know ahead of time what to expect. You might even be able to get some books and begin reading. You can do this. Besides, each school should have a Student Support Services office for students with disabilities that need accommodations. Use it. ANd use self-talk when you start to get anxious. Remind yourself that you have made it this far and you can make it one step farther. Good luck and take it one day at a time.
