For those who have taken Buspar

Does it help at all with depression as well? I know it isn't an antidepressant, but an anti anxiety med. Some have carry over effects to other issues.

i never did like it. but it is good 4 those struggling with addiction and anxiety. its not addictive

I have taken buspar before, im sorry but I hated it..it made me feel WEIRD...
im also going to tell you what my psy told me..
If you have taken klonopin, xanax, or anything along those lines that buspar is not going to help you. He told me it does nothing after you have experienced the effects of the other valiums.

Nancyn, can I ask what your regement and dosage was on the xanax, klonopin, etc?
I have taken klonopin but was really afraid of it and rarely take it unless I feel near going over the edge. I'm a recovering alcoholic so I have had to be careful about the benzodiazapines.

I got perscribed to Buspar last week and soo far its okay. I don't think that it would work as an antidepressent. I was givin it because I am not depressed and it's just for anxiety, All the antidepresents they gave me made me sick. The obly thing about Buspar is that I have to take it a few hours before I have to drive because it will make me a little disoriented.

spencermm I take 1mg of klonopin and am prescribed to take 2 a day...but sometimes I cut the pill and take 0.5mg...and xanax I believe I took 0.5mg...Were you afraid the klonopin would make you feel weird or you would get addicted to it? It does not make me feel weird really takes the edge off things and relaxes. But yes I agree it can be addicting...I do not pop them. But I have to say I have been on them a few years now and I don't know how I would feel if I stopped taking them. But I have been tapered down from taking 3 a day to 2 and I was never really taking 3 a day anyway.
