Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. All you need to know as to "why" everything seems to frighten you is to know that your mind is on a "hunt and destroy" mission. Part of you feels threatened, and that part of your mind feels a tremendous need to "find out why". So, anytime you are feeling threatened or insecure, your mind makes an association between that event or circumstance and says "Ah ha! now I know - it's being in a car that makes me feel this way" "I won't do that again" or "Oh, it's --(fill in the blank as to what innocent object or event seems to be causing you the fear) an association with the place, event or circumstance with the feeling - that's all. Try to remember, it's not the events in our lives that cause us to feel unsafe, or fearful or angry or whatever, it's the INTERPRETATION of that event that causes the feeling. If it were the event itself - we would all have the same reactions to the same content - and you know that's not true.
So, try to realize that your mind is working overtime to solve what you perceive is your problem. Tell it" I'm okay" you're off duty. And try to let things appear to you , just as they are, without your judgement (or without giving your own meaning ) to them.
Instead of looking for fear - which you will find, if you want it - try to relax the best you can, and look for the signs of love that are there - if you want to see them you will.. See the love in the caring nurses, see the love in the families who are there with their loved ones. See the love in the person who went with you to the doctor's office. Those things that you will see are the only true things in this world - I wish you the very best --
