Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...

Hello Everyone,
I hope everyone is doing well during this time of year, but if you are not... I hope it gets better for you and you are taking time to take care of yourself.
So I know last time I updated, I talked about how I was having a shit day... and well. I mean I still have those periodically but I think I've accepted my anxiety as it is. It's not all of me, but it is ultimately a part of me. I'm still seeing my counselor, however I will not see them until the new year, mainly because I'm now home for the holidays from University. I think I've done some progress during the last two months, and I've been in a better state... I believe this is mainly because I am not doing any schoolwork for the next couple of weeks since I am on break. I'm taking this time that I have to really get to a calm state of mind and trying to control my anxieties by myself for a bit. I've taken up writing again, which is something I hadn't done in the last several months so I'm glad about that. I know this is probably going to sound a little bit unprogressive of me, but I'm also a little worried now about going back to school for the new semester. Mainly because I will be reentering that atmosphere of stress, but at the same time... I know I have help waiting for me there if I need it now too.
My therapist advised me to really take the next several weeks to practice mindfulness and self care. The only problem is... I'm not quite sure what those two things consist of. Like I know it's kind of like taking a "me day." I guess I'll ask you guys. What are some things you guys do to practice mindfulness and selfcare?
I hope everyone has safe and wonderful holidays with their families and friends.
Best,
theblueumbrelladream

Lately I've been feeling scared and full of anxiety. I recently found a lump under my nipple. I hurt my back too. I'm in the process of moving. I'm run down. Everything is hard

Anyhoo. . .
By the Arf Measure, this very post is practicing mindfulness and self-care. You are taking your personal inventory and building an awareness of your personal needs. Now, just practice, practice, practice. Keep your proverbial finger on your strictly personal pulse as you go through your day and do whatever it takes to keep that pulse smooth and efficient.
Enjoy your time off. Remember that rest is a productive activity within a full, active life.
I know exactly what you mean about returning back to the stress environment. I’m no longer in school, but taking time off work, just to get into more symptoms when having to return. A big key here was to be honest with myself. Journal, vent your fears out loud or on paper. The goal is to guide your subconscious in the right direction. Along the same lines, you can try to turn those anxious thoughts into a positive by telling yourself that you are excited, not anxious or worried. I recently put myself on the DARE program after listening to DARE through audible.
Not trying to sound like I am peddling it, but it’s helped me even in just a few short weeks. I have noticed that even just playing the book during stressful times as helped me re-center. I have also started wearing a silicon wristband as a reminder to practice the thought chain throughout the day.
It does get better! You had already taken big leaps towards healing, good luck!
Best wishes!
