Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...
Eating disorders are sort of different from anxiety disorders because they pose a significant risk to one's physical health (and also can have a high fatality rate, in some circumstances, for a mental health condition; between around 4-5% for anorexia, bulimia, and EDNOS). I don't say this to scare you but just so you can look out for your friend's safety. Helping her find professional help to overcome her symptoms will also reduce her bingeing, if she is willing to work on these things. Eating disorders can be life threatening, and I don't want your friend's to get to that point. Has she sought help for this? Purging is quite bad for you, so I hope that she seeks some kind of treatment. If you believe she may be endangering her wellbeing you may want to consider reaching out for outside help. (Though I would encourage you to talk to her about it first and see if she wouldn't be willing to try to change her behavior prior to that, if you feel that's happening, as many of us have a major fear of losing control.)
I think it's very kind of you to be so understanding. I think a lot of people would get angry with her for taking their food. You are being patient and loyal. But being those things doesn't mean not telling her that this is a problem. I can tell that you can approach this situation sensitively and considerately. I don't know if you keep your food in separate places in your fridge or cupboards but doing that if you don't already do s may be helpful.
Best wishes. It's a tough situation.
