Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...
I am on a regular routine of Klonopin and then 1 mg of xanax as needed, but that seems to be quiet often as of late, but then again I have ALOT going on in my life at the present time!
You are so much stronger than you think? I can't or am afraid of even trying to work with my anxiety or panic attacks. You should be proud, but I do understand how it goes with anxiety too! Can be there one minute or one day and then not show up for a month or can haunt you daily for months at a time!
Just take it one step at a time and you will do fine! I look up to you with this, I really do. I mean I feel your pain and totally get it, but man you work all those long hours with anxiety, you are so much stronger than I am!
Hang in there and be proud that you are one of the few that can get through this without meds. I am here if you ever need a shoulder......xxxxx
First off, Dazedance, it was nice of you to praise my ability to carry on with anxiety with out meds. However if a medication is out there that would calm the turmoil I experience carrying on with this severe anxiety, it might be considered a "stupid" choice for me not to take a medication. Long ago I took an antidepressant but it not appear to help very much with my anxiety.
Also, I might have this anxiety for a couple of days then puff it might be gone for several months. So my family dr of several years states the meds might cause me more upset, then the disorder itself. Of curse other dr.s have disagreed with him. So, needless to say, I also obsess to much too about what is wrong with me, should I take meds or not. And so on.
I truly struggle to carry on when I feel this way! I pace, clean, sort, iron clothes, write, and post here. I am not able to sit or concentrate long and I don't eat much.
My daily routine turns into a minute by minute day, instead of a nicely flowing day of "normal" if you understand what I mean. By night time I am so gosh darn exhausted I do fall asleep from all the activities that I did from one thing to another with out a brake. It is just a terrible agitation. But, I wake up with a doomed feeling in the pit of my tummy the next day, and start all over again. Like a mouse on a wheel.
As far as work, it is a busy job too, since I am a coach for troubled teens who reside in a residential home. These teens have many emotional disturbances, are very hostile at times, but all in all, they keep me hopping, which distracts me from my agitation. I also clean and sort at work, since it a huge residential home. (chuckle) The job itself, probably is not a good fit for me, because there are long shifts, different shifts, and always emotional upsets, restraints, police involvement, and it is a large agency, meaning many bossy management issues, ongoing meetings, trainings and so on. I also sub for our schools though, as a secretary and teacher's assistant, so I could just do that during the school year. But the inconsistency and not knowing from day to day where I am going to work, tends to not be good for me either. Otherwise a "normal" office job is not easy to come by where I live in a small town, unless I would want to travel into the city. Also, I am 56. I have been caring for my elderly parents the past years, and subbing. My mom and dad passed away. My mom just a year ago, so now I am working again. Also, my house has been in renovation, my kitchen is tourn abort completely, and has been for a year and a half and my husband procrastinates. So my home is kind of out of sorts too.
But even so, I have had this weird type of disorder on and off since I have been 18 years old, and now I am 56, so I don't' contribute it my anxiety/depression to environmental issues. But I had many things going on in my teens to certainly start up anxiety and depression, so with that said who knows. Sorry to rattle on here. I always try to figure it all out.
WyndWytch, thanks for the natural treatment suggestion, I will certainly look into it. It does appear that one trigger is, being overtired then going out and about on a day off with out a clear cut plan. It starts when driving at times. I get a overwhelming nervousness, then I feel like I can't drive. I usually go back home, calm a bit but the aftermath of agitation lingers. Sometimes for just a day, sometimes weeks...I wonder why?
