Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...
This med is usually prescribed for MDD and GAD, and its success rate for Major Depressive Disorders and Generalized Anxiety Disorders is not that great. Which means its slightly above average.
I was on Cymbalta, I was diagnosed with GAD, and I have depression too. The Cymbalta did help with the depression, at least I was functioning better, it only mildly helped with the anxiety, but it took the edge off, doc switched me onto various meds trying to find the right fit for me and none of them eliminated the anxiety, I suppose I was expecting more from the drugs.
I got tired of side effects and ended up quiting all and going natural and just managing. I take Ativan occasionally which is a life saver, but not allowed to take it daily. I still have anxiety, it's there all the time, but it is milder and I have been able to manage it with alternative methods, the anxiety level is way lower than it was that is for sure but it can still escalate situationally, hence the Ativan.
Basically you aren't going to know unless you give cymbalta a try. Everyone is different.
Just a note. coming off Cymbalta was not fun, it had pretty bad effect on me, I didn't do it right, so if you do try Cymbalta and then decide to come off it, ween off it very gently and with doctor's advice. Never just quit these meds without some professional advice. Well that should apply to all anti-anxiety or anti-depressants. But coming off these meds cold turkey can be horrible, horrible, so do it carefully.
I hope you find the right thing to help you with the anxiety. It is a terrible thing to have and you have my empathy.
