Cheap mouth guards?

In your experience are the cheap mouth guards from stores like Walgreens or Rite Aid worth getting? Or should I work with my dentist to get an expensive one?

I have tried the ones from the drug store and they didn't help me at all. They'd lose their shape and were just nasty. I ended up getting a custom one from the dentist. It was expensive, but worth it. Good luck!

A mouth guard is better than no mouth guard IMO.
My clenching has cost me a pretty penny to fix the damage.
The first mouth guard I had did not work...had to have a heavy duty one built ($400) which was cheaper than fixing broken teeth ($2,000)....not to mention the severe pain I was in.
My dentist built mouth guard is still good....5 years later, so I think it's safe to say that it was worth the $400 :)

i got the dentist one and wish I hadn't --it was way to tight on my front teeth and I don't wear it....I take klonopin at night to sleep and now don't clench at night--just during the day when I can stop myself...if it starts back up--I will go get a cheap one..

I bought one at Wal Mart and it cost me $20 dollars. The one from my dentist before it finally broke after years of use, cost me $200. If you can afford the one from your dentist, I would recommend that route, but if not, it won't hurt to try the ones at Wal Mart.
