Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...

I am sleeping better and I don't think I look as tired and drawn. Eyes are not as bloodshot and puffy.
Yes I'm still broke and I still worry about my future but for now it's not keeping me up at night and my mind is not jumping to thoughts of suicide as much. . Now if I could just lose this pesky 15-20 pounds.
Thank you for the info. I have not had much satisfaction with the suicide hotlines. The hold times are either too long (scary thought that there are so many of us) or the volunteer sounds as depressed as me and seems to be reading from a script of predetermined appropriate responses.
1. No caffeine or a Max of two servings.
2. Exercise. This regulates sleep cycles. It really takes the edge off. It's like a shot if tequila.
3. Eat stuff high in tryptophan: turkey, lettuce, etc.
4. Get a routine going i.e. awake and sleep at same time.
5. Drink tea such as: valerian root, passion flower root, chamomile, seven blossoms, linden flowers, and lavender. These are listed in order of strength. I am so neurotic I combine them all.
Drink a cup when you wake, mid day,and before you sleep. It will keep you calm and ready for bed when it's time.
Please try this. I have been struggling with this and it's worked for me.
Good news is I sleep like a baby again last night. I put some lavender oil on as I got ready for bed and yep! made it throughout th the day without any alcohol.
It's a roller coaster ride. I'm sleeping better. Cutting out some but not all alcohol which has helped.
Had a rough weekend. Someone I thought was a friend said something pretty cruel and it hurt quite a bit and so I did some crying. I have settled in with it's ok to walk away from them. I hope they do the same. I don't want anymore drama.
How are you?
I'm not only tired of drama but I can't tolerate it anymore. Used to be more resilient. I'm more fragile now. Not sure if it's the PTSD or menopause or what.
RE:alcohol. My boyfriend and I are collaborating on the moderation plan. We are only drinking on the weekends. I've noticed that while I still crave it, I don't like the way I feel when I drink. It depresses me, I also tend to lose my mouth filter. Good judgment goes down the drain.
I have been holding off talking to her again because the last time I spoke with her she told me that she thought I looked for reasons to be unhappy. I feel like I can't even be honest with her about what is going on because I just really don't want to hear that. It's bullshit.
Why in the hell would I be spending time talking to her if I didn't have the desire to be happy?
There was more drama last night at home with our landlord. I do not understand what the hell it is I'm doing that brings all this about. I'm the common denominator. You know?
Alcoholics can get a really bad vitamin B12 deficiency which can wreak havoc. It's called a kind of anaemia but it's not a lack of iron. Check out your vitamin B12 levels. They may help with sleep. Quitting the alcohol should help enormously with the anxiety and depression. I know I don't drink because i can't stand the anxiety attacks during withdrawals.
Read the Allan Carr book on quitting drinking. Do you smoke too? He's got a great book I used to help me quit smoking as well.
All those chemicals will lead you along on a rollercoaster ride, and you won't know where your baseline is till you quit them and wait for them to leave your body. Then you can get a huge surprise at how much more in control, powerful, and relaxed you feel. Those chemicals really have us by the short and curlies. Understanding how to get away from them is a key that unlocks a lot.
Get those allan carr books.
I do not smoke. I used to 30 years ago or so. I quit and didn't miss it. Alcohol is proving harder to kick. I don't like the way I feel after but I like the feeling during up to a certain point. There is a comfort level I teeter on.
On the nights I drink even if it's only a couple of beers I wake up around 3AM and the negative litany starts.
On the nights I don't drink that doesn't happen.
Yes I have tried to quit. I have tried to drink less. I never succeed more than a month with either. Alcohol alleviates my anxiety but worsens my depression. Vicious circle.
I used to be pretty active when I was single. I went to yoga twice a week. Went hiking every weekend and walked my dog everyday. First time in my life I had muscle tone.
My bf has a physically active profession so he's tired after work hours. I sit at a desk all day. We usually end up taking it easy. He wouldn't give me a hard time about striking out on my own but I choose to hang out with him because I enjoy his company.
I did go to a DV support group for awhile. It just was not helpful to me.
Talking to friends and family, yoga, and massage therapy has gotten me through some pretty hard times. It has come to light that talking to friends and family may not be such a great idea. I've lost friends who couldn't tolerate my problems. I'm so afraid to lose the ones I care for now I don't feel like I can confide in anyone anymore. Not even my therapist. I feel guilty because I don't get better and I don't do enough to help myself.
I'm in pain the majority of the time. Not physical pain but emotional pain(sometimes manifests into physical pain). My life is overwhelming. The world is overwhelming. I'm miserable in my own skin. My ex friends said would you want to have lunch with you? Nope. I wouldn't. I'm a drag! Lol
The other was when I was sleeping inside a sleeping bag inside our two person bag. I was cold. He thinks I should not be cold but I was. I don't understand why it was such a big deal but it was. He seems to think I did it just to puss him off. Now we are not speaking. So much for a nice relaxing weekend. I wasted two days of vacation for this crap.
