Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...
Hi guys , first for context id like to say that i have made mistakes in the past which overtime made me the family scapegoat , things like doing drugs like xanax but what my parents dont understand is they are the reason i keep relapsing , my dad is the person who took xanax and nalbuphine a strong opiod and thats how i first tried it , not only that but because my brother was diagnosed with ADHD he was prescribed ritalin but throughout my childhood my dad also wrongfully gave it to me and used to tell me it was my morning vitamin , because of years of that my attention span lowered drastically . and now at 21 i have my exams ging on and my phones are confiscated cutting any connection with like the 1 or 2 friends i really have , my psychaitrist prescribed me modafanil but my mom didnt like it so she talked to him which makes no sense but this is pakistan and he said i cant take it anymore even tho it was genuinly helping and now during exam season im so stressed , i also have borderline personality disorder and my mom is very careless about giving me my medicines or even buying them. the anxiety prevents me from focusing and studying.

Woke up feeling very emotional and about to clock in at my place of employment. And can't place it all in writing but not been a good experience with my store manager or his boss. Defamation of my character is a concern. I've been losing appetite and weight. Trying to perform at work to keep myself from hospitalization as a result of toxic masculinity.

This is why I don't go to family functions. I felt very unsupported when I lost my husband in 2020. And my grandmother's 9 living children and hosts of grandchildren turned against me when I was managing my grandma's end of life care as her Power of Attorney. I was the administrator of the grandfather and grandmother's estates (an extremely thankless job that took over two years of my life!) When...

scapegoating is a common dysfunctional family dynamic. every family member has a part to play in the family illness and? ? ? well? ? ? it is a dysfunctional family model and is not obligated to make sense. it just is what it is, by whatever name, and the pressure is all the more intense for the fact that it doesn't carry any logical sense. it's just a family tradition.
for my own recovery, i try to archive those illogical facts of life and focus on my own strictly personals. yes, those illogical facts of life are deeply conditioned into me, but recovery happens in forward motion on a strictly personal level. what the birth family expects of me has no bearing on my recovery unless i choose to let it.
or so i opine. . . just opining. . .
steadying support while you sort your own opinions. welcome aboard.
I think I'd advise you to go back to the psychiatrist and say, "hey man I need that medication, it helps me so much, and you must prescribe again. Do not talk to my mother as this interferes with my recovery." Tell him what you have told us, how you feel that your parent's interference is damaging your recovery. Notice the strong words I used, don't be meek with him. Take charge of your own recovery because you have to value yourself.
Consider continuing on the things or medications you know are helping you but not telling your parents. Now that you realize these unhelpful family dynamics, keep them in mind.
