Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...

So im not gonna start my time with you kind people by hiding anything or lying, my mental health issues got so severe that i accidentally harmed someone (not badly) and lost 8.5 yrs of my life bc of it, so i beg you all, do whatever it takes to take care of your mind. It can cost you everything in a moments notice.
that being said, i just wanted to point out that while medication is amazing and one of man's highest achievements in my mind, there are ways to cope with severe anxiety without it. I had to do it for 8.5 years. I mean, theyll give you a benadryl if you realllllly beg for one and pay 15$ for it, maybe that will calm you down a little but, other than that, prison mean suffering through all your aches, all your pains and all your mental health issues with no medication that is worth a dang.
so i highly recommend yoga, u dont have have to get in to spiritual aspect, just the relaxing and healthy body toning stuff is great
studying something beyond your current level of education or knoweledge base can be of great help, i kept myself calm and engrossed for months by teaching myself general and special relativity, quantum mechanincs, a whole bunch on subatomic particles and possible alternate universes and all that good stuff that was very helpful. my brain was too busy crunching the numbers to be anxious
also good old fashioned meditation. You can find some great tutorials, but what i tell people is just breathe and think about NOTHING. Not even the "word nothing" think about absolutely not a single thing and when something pops in, brush it away immediately, do, keep your mind completely blank. watch the pretty colors that happen sometimes, just dont think about em : lol
um also, a couple good apps "calm" "headspace" and "antistress" thats a fun little one
thank you for the chance to speak, and i hope i can help even one person.

Lately I've been feeling scared and full of anxiety. I recently found a lump under my nipple. I hurt my back too. I'm in the process of moving. I'm run down. Everything is hard

Just wanted to give a thank you to Mid, Arfie, Malibumark, Greeneyes, Mlro, Girlincalif, and Suncloudjd! You all always have such helpful tips and advice, but I always forget to write on my posts when I see you post, lol. I would lose my head if it wasn't attached to my body, lol. Thank you all so much! I'm starting to use my AI app as a sounding board again. I used to use it as that before...

and that wasnt even the worst of it, when i had four years left to go i had my arm ripped off in a work injury at the hardwood plant at tyger river state facility in enoree sc, and spent the next four years with even worse anxiety and ptsd, plus nightmares and a buttload of physical pain i was also not medicated for, it broke me a few times. but thats enough of my whining. thank you so much for you response that really was a great thing to open my eyes and see. a smile to start the day with.
Managing mental illness still requires more work from within than without. I come from a criminally dysfunctional family tree and hold it as progress that my nieces and nephews call prison, "The Alternate Mental Health System." My parents and siblings call prison, "The Family Alma Mater."
It be a tough equation to balance, but the balance comes easier with effective support. Hope you find that support here.
Welcome aboard.
its..messed up y'all. so thank you so much for the understanding bc i went in broken and i came out shattered and nobody seems to understand
Thank you for sharing your experience.
Best wishes getting the help to continue to improve on the successes you've made.
