When I went to college, I moved far away from home to a place where I knew absolutely no one. I was afraid of talking to people that didn't seem to be like me because I really didn't want to feel rejected. I had to start slowly. I started by forcing myself to smile and say hello to people, even if I felt panicky inside. I started to participate more in class to get people familiar with my face. I also took preventative measures every day. I meditated before class to get myself into a positive mind frame and allow myself to be okay with having a little bit of anxiety when I was in public. After a while, the anxiety became less and less, until it was non-existent.
It's really just practice. I am sure that many of the people that are in class with you feel the same way, but can't imagine admitting it. Have you ever talked to one of your professor's about managing performance anxiety?
