Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...
In years past I have been on Klonopin and other times Ativan, prescribed in a hospital, the latter of which I developed a reliance on it for two years and had a very hard time getting off of it.
Through years of therapy, I developed coping skills to strategically manage the anxiety, though I take other maintenance psych medications. I also have a prn rx for ambien, because anxiety creates insomnia for me....and I need to sleep to properly cope with stress the next day.
It's all compounded and the diagnosis process was tricky, but I am currently experiencing rising anxiety due to some stressful scenarios and want to prepare for my psychiatrist appointment next week to consider going on anxiety meds again.
What anxiety meds have benefitted you when you've needed them? Specifically for combatting anxiety that keeps you from getting to sleep?
Thank you for your insight.

Mom and I have errands to run this morning. She said we can get sushi for lunch though. I go back to work today. What are you looking forward to this weekend?

Quick, before the evil MONday gets here! Let's climb those mountains, dance in the meadows, dip our feet in the ocean....Okay, so most of us won't be doing any of That. Sadly. But today can still be a great day!The area behind our back fence is on an incline, with less than two feet on even ground at the top. I don't balance well enough for the incline, but our mower guy mows that...

when I am having issues sleeping--I try somnapure (natural sleep aid---and if that doesn't work I go to tylenol pm or I take the klonopin. the pm and klonopin are kind of at the same level for me---but klonopin doesn't give you the 'sleep hangover" the next day.
I also sometimes do a youtube meditation or tapping session..pretty much every night I listen to relaxation music on youtube--they have ones for insomnia specifically.
They seem to be working! In the past Prozac and Zoloft did nothing for me.
All this because of a very current stressful situation that IS now occurring. I have daily ups and downs with anxiety. My depression has improved considerably.
I am hoping also once I recover fully from a recent surgery that I can incorporate some usual nighttime stretching/pilates into an outlet for the anxiety too. But I definitely think a new med is needed now.
I appreciate all your input.
I hope you feel better soon and I wish you luck in finding something that works for you!
