Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...
A few of my coworkers listen to me and care about how I'm doing. A few could care less! I remember as I was leaving to go to Urgent Care on Wednesday, one of the salespeople stopped me as I was leaving and said, "Well you got my order in right? Because I have to have it in!" Fortunately I had the order in. I wanted to punch him in the nose.
I don't really have any advice, but I understand your concerns. Maybe people who've had anxiety longer have tips on this.
i suffer from panic disorder, agoraphobia, and depression. I constantly have panic attacks at work. I take a moment and walk away but my manager and two of my closest co-workers know what is wrong with me. My thing is when I go through these panic attacks i do not want to be alone. i want my safety blanket there. For everything and everywhere my husband is my safety blanket. At work one of my good friends helps me. She talks me through them but still they are no fun. No one wants to have to look like a nut everytime one of those attacks hit. I am currently seeing a therapist and she helps me out a lot but it is still now easy.
I get a couple of breaks a day so I am OUTSIDE walking around, appreciating nature, and practicing positive self talk.
I carry water, gum, Bach's rescue remedy, and lavendar essential oil to help calm down on bad days. I also carry a few Peppermint tea bags in my purse for emergencies. It calms my stomach, nausea and headaches.
Just know that it is temporary helps me. Knowing that my body will clam itself down eventually also helps. I also know that I put myself in that position. I have set backs but am on the road to recovery. I made a plan on how to cope when I get anxious and I pretty much stick to it. I give myself extra love on those days or make a point to do random acts of kindness for others. I try not to focus inwards because that is normally how mine start.
If you have to scream, go out to your car and say you left something in it. Scream all you want - no one will hear and you might feel better!
Some of my friends/co-workers know. It's funny because I found out some of them have the same problem!
Good advice. Sometimes hard to do but it needs to be done. The more we dwell on the anxiety the stronger it gets.
