I know from experience that if you are using your inhaler multiple times a day, your asthma is not well-controlled. You may need to see your doctor to change up the meds. In the months before I was diagnosed with anxiety, I was having a lot of problems with my asthma and allergies. My doctor changed my meds and I started taking allergy shots and now I'm mostly symptom-free.
If you can get free of the wheezing, then you can try other things like breathing techniques to help deepen your breaths. I have found that yoga helps a lot, too.

My aunt had asthma from the time she was 2 years old due to physical stress of being very premature and having her tonsils out. She had bad wheezing at times till she got some good meds. Hers was due to that I believe.
Try and get good nutrition and practice relaxation. Enjoy happy thoughts and watch good--happy movies. Stay away from the news as much as possible! Talk to friends and I hope this thought helps!
