Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...

6 years ago I was hospitalized for severe depression and anxiety. At the time I was put on a major load of medications--I don't even remember everything I was on. I know at the worst point I was on 6 different meds.
At one point my dr increased my dosage of Wellbutin--awful effects--I felt like I was losing my mind. Would be talking and mid sentence forget what I was saying. This just made me more anxious, and after an outburst in group therapy (I said if I had a gun I would shoot everyone) I was hospitalized again. The hospital drs felt that I was over-medicated--my psychiatrist disagreed. After that I began weaning myself off my meds, one by one, without telling my dr. About a year ago I was finally off of everything and stopped seeing my psych.
This is not to say I wasn't frequently depressed, but I was terrified of going back on meds. Back in March I had a situation at work that caused me a great deal of anxiety--I was afraid I was being forced out of my job. I ended up in the ER with chest pains, which I was sure was caused by panic. After that I saw my GP and explained the situation, and he prescribed Klonopin (which I had been on previously).
Recently there have been other stressors in my life. Problems with money, with my daughter, and trying to adjust to a long distance relationship, in addition to this constant feeling that I am inadequate at my job and am going to be fired.
I'm now finding myself at the point where I am obsessing to the point that I can barely function. Today my son suggested that maybe its time to go back to a psychiatrist. I've been fighting this--so afraid of another bad experience. Afraid of the drugs, and being over-medicated. But I do realize that I need help and need to do this.
Planning on finding a different psych than last time. How do I explain my fears of being over medicated again? How do I keep them from over prescribing? My anxiety over this happening to me again has been preventing me from seeking help. I'm thinking I need Klonopin, Prozac and Trazadone to help me sleep--this trio helped me before. But how do I tell a dr that is what I feel I need without them pressing different/more meds on me? How much control do I have over what is prescribed?

It's National Doughnut Day!Which three would you like? (never mind the calories, fat, or sugar content; just go with what you would pick if none of that mattered and whatever health issues you might have that would keep you from eating one in real life can be cast aside for this exercise as well... have at it!)

some of the ones I was already taking. I knew i was going to like him because in our first meeting he said "the best drug is the least drugs".
Tell them honestly about your experience and concerns up front.
