General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...

Well, it could be that the anxiety stems from your friends situation. You may be just over-trying to protect your self-system. Marriage plans are demanding issues to deal with and deadlines to meet. The sense of self is sometimes based on what others are expecting from us. As a wedding attendant, you may have to help your friend make important decisions which could possibly be good or bad, and certainly you want the wedding to be a success. I believe that your feelings are all situational, and in this case, it is normal anxiety.

I can relate as well. My anxiety is circumstantial "my job has a lot of stress and I dont trust people here" and I live alone and am tired of that. You are not alone! I hate feeling like this too. It's not me, but life is hard sometimes and we hit those low points. I am trying to use the mantra "let go and let god"

I don't get gaggy, just an overwhelming sensation. But I did an interesting experiment. Since I exercise quite regularly and mtb cycle, I put on my heart rate monitor as I went driving around to work, home and in stressful situations. I noticed although I had anxiety, quite a bit in some situations. I noticed my heart rate would rarely exceed 84 bpm, and with relaxed breathing would come down to 72, quite normal, even though I had a feeling of impending panic. Most complain of racing heart(95-100+ bpm, higher if in full bore panic attack, 110-120 bpm. So, I'm here to tell you relaxed breathing techniques work. Many are unaware the rapid breathing they start doing when a triggering event, place or thing occurs and activated anxiety response is put into play. I'm doing a speadsheet on this to pinpoint my 'triggers' and how to apply breathing to promote calm, and a graph so I can see actual causation and effect, so I can work on areas that are strongly causational and 'push' the calmer moments into play. If your meds aren't working could be dose related or not the right med for you. Good luck

not to be negative but, for those of us who report having had anxiety all our lives, I think its something that we will always have to some degree. I can't remember ever not being at least a little anxious my whole life. Its something I've had to manage (sometimes not very well) with meds and plain old endurance. I hate it, but I know it will eventually subside and I'll feel somewhat better. Its when life becomes very stressful that my anxiety is its worst. If I can't alleviate the cause of the stress before long I find myself "cracking" under the enormous pressure and I begin to freak out because I cant escape my circumstances.

I agree with Billy bob, i think it's something we have to learn to deal with as best as we can and try to cope with it. I found a site called www.anxietycoach.com that gave me some insight and i think its worth the read.
