The world is not ending. This planet has survived much harder times than this.
Look at the people of Japan. They are without food and water. They have lost their homes, their loved ones and they STILL aren't freaking out or turning to looting and violence. Instead of letting that situation terrify you, let it inspire you. Strength comes from within.
first, i would hide all those negative facebook people. some people thought the world would end at the millenium. it didn't. there have been 4 other powerful earthquakes over time. so, hide those ppl, so you can enjoy your farmville game in peace.
and yes, the people of Japan are puliing together. some of the brightest minds on the planet live there, and they are working on things. the US and other countries stand ready to help.
The media sensationalizes tragic stories like the one that befell Japan. There's all sorts of other news going on in the world. Yet, the media is stuck on fear mongering and sensationalizing. The American media is a proponent of psychological warfare that our government and the large corporations who own majority of the media and all intents and purposes, the national government are engaged in with the American public for their thoughts, opinions, and minds. The American public turns to the media for objective news; instead, they get provided opinions, propaganda, brainwashing, and fear mongering. After all, I would give up some of my liberties to be more free.
I agree with Lilygirl that you need to stop watching the news, and it's okay to take comfort in fluff, but do not allow it to dominate your life. The best thing to do is to become informed and thing for yourself. Never ever let the media or the government do your thinking for you.
Religious people have been crying 'end times' for centuries. like I said it's only because of media coverage and the access we have to knowing about everything around the world. Whenever a huge event happens there is panic that the world is coming to an end.
natural disasters occur because of scientific changes in the earth and atmosphere. no other reason. And yes when we see them it is absolutely devastating to watch. I have been thinking of Japan too and thinking of the people. It is important though not to overload on watching the events. just like 911 they televised that a lot. and people began to get depression and anxiety. It's just that the media covers these things so heavily. we must monitor how much we watch and not over expose ourselves to it. because it isn't good for our health. it's not that we are ignoring it it's not being selfish, it's not that we don't care. it's because we do have to take care of ourselves. if we are able to offer help then we can. if we are able to offer words of hope and love then we can.
I am really sorry you have fibromyalgia and have all what you are going through. I have fibro myself and stress is not good for it. try and somehow de-stress. take time out if you can. definitely keep away from the news. lock yourself in the bathroom and have a hot bath with epsom salts. it helps the muscles.
I am hoping for your husband to get well and full recovery.
and Briman, I couldn't have said it better. I wanna high five you.
