I hear you with your fear of side effects. But I agree with summer....better to be a little tired than have the panic! I was only tired till I got used to it, about a week, then I was fine and on it for years!
Good luck!
I have spoken with another person i know that has the same problems, her doctor prescribed Ambien to help her sleep. She mentioned without the ambien she would not be able to function.
I also tried Effexor and Zoloft with the same result, could not sleep so my doctor suggested another sleep aid.
I am taking one med to fix one problem but it created another problem which i have to take another med to fix, it's like being on a rollercoster ride

My own experience with Lexapro was NOTHING. It did nothing, I never felt any different and no side effects of any kind. I think it's great that it has been a miracle drug for so many. You are all so lucky. No drug yet has done anything for me.
I wouldn't blame you one bit if you refused the Lexapro. When you start a second and third generation antidepressant you're basically rolling the dice.
And if you take it and the effects are discouraging or uncomfortable your doctors first course of action is usually to increase the dosage, by usually doubling it.
Did you ask your Dr. Why Lexapro? Do you have a know chemical imbalance in your brain, or is your anxiety easily explained?
Lexapro is being way over prescribed in my opinion. When far cheaper, more user friendly and easier to tolerate antidepressants are available.
