it will take time to work if you are given medicine: maybe a month. It has to build up in your body. And when you go off someting, you have to go off it very slowly. Much more slowly than you went on.
There might be counselling you can have to learn strategies of combating the attacks. Or to talk about why you get them. I found counselling incredibly useful, my counsellor taught me lots of things I did not know before.

I found personal development helps me. If I want things to be different I had to make it happen. I find mindfulness useful. Exercise too such as swimming, walking. Yoga is really good for relaxing and exercise, it helps me to make time for relaxation.
I have never tried meds but have been to counselling years ago. I guess different things work for individuals.
