Yes I have been on the generic celexa for 6 weeks along with ativan. I take 20mg at night. I wondered if the dosage should be increased or if its just life getting to me. Finances, new job, lots of changes, first christmas without my mom. Anyway, i am happy with celexa alot better than paxil. Paxil didn't work for this time. The ativan I take every 8 hours to keep ahead of the panic attacks. Only side effect I had was no appetite and weigh loss.

I'm hoping the Celexa will work so I won't need to take Ativan all the time. I hate relying on it. I think the Prozac was making me more anxious!

Some days I don't need the ativan at all. My mornings are the worst. Lots of anxiety right when I wake up and I am starting my job on monday. Hopefully once I adjust to the job I won't be so anxious.

I wake up anxious also- then become nervous of having an anxiety attack at work; it's an awful cycle! Good luck with your job!

I was on celexa originally (coupled with buspar) and then when my anxiety didn't abate I moved on to just taking lexapro. Lexapro has always worked amazing for me & now they sell a generic for it too.

I am on Celexa right now and have been for about 2 years or so. I found that it has definitely helped! :)

Did it make you more anxious when you first started it?

No, but my dr wanted me to take the ativan every 8 hr also. She said she prescribes the 2 for that reason. I tryed paxil before that and that did make my anxiety worse

i have been on celexa to it really help i was feeling very good and took myself off of them and did good for about six months and everything came back anxiety and panic attacks so im back on them and its slowly helping

Glad to hear Celexa has helped others. I just have to be patient until it starts working. Hate having to take Ativan all the time but hopefully it will be temporary.

I am currently taking Celexa. When I first started taking it, it initially increased my anxiety. Once my body became acclimated, I had no problems with it. I combine it with Buspirone. Any time I go to a public function or family get together I use Hydroxyzine. Hydroxyzine works wonders for my social anxiety. Make sure you stay on top of the exercise. It is so important. Also, stay away from alcohol completely. For me, quitting alcohol was the best thing I ever did.

I have never taken Celexa , but read an artile in Consumer Reports that
it was the SSRI with the lowest % of people discontuing due to side effects so thats a good sign. It is very similar to Lexapro which is expensive because there's no generic. Thats why more people are on Celexa.

Alcohol is a temporary fix and it messes with the part of the brain that handles emotion. I used alcohol to help me too. Once I cut the alcohol out completely, I noticed a drastic change. I also workout 4 days a week which helps release endorphins.
