My husband and I are going to start trying to get pregnant soon, I am super excited! I have been on medication for quite a few years to control Anxiety and OCD, and I really nervous about how this going to go, stopping them all. I have been going to the doctor to learn some techniques of relaxation for the time to come when I cant. I have heard very differnt things. Alot of people say that during their pregnancies they had no anxiety at all, like it all just stopped and they were great. The of course it could go completly the other way! I am just so scared but I know that having a baby will be all worth it in th end!!!! Any mommies out their who delt with this advice would greatly apperciated! Thanks

Just the process of trying to get pregnant can cause anxiety to rise but try to remain hopeful and remember it can take several months. As far for me I'm sorry to say pregnancy really elevated my anxiety, there is just so many new things to worry about when you are growing a little person inside of you. But I was able to endure and deliver a beautiful healthy baby. My advice would be to find an OBGYN who understands anxiety and will be patient and supportive during your pregnancy. For me I also knew that at the end of the nine months I could deal with the anxiety if needed. It helped to know it was only temporary. I wish you and your husband the best, having children was the greatest gifts of my life.

One day at a time. That is all you can do. You will drive yourself absolutely bonkers if you don't adopt this philosophy.

I have just become pregnant after 2 years of trying to conceive. For the first month or so, i felt amazing, calm, and my panic attacks had subsided. I think this was due to the distraction of the pregnancy. Since i have got used to knowing now that i am pregnant and have also since been quite unwell, the anxiety and panic attacks have started again and are the worst in which they have ever been i think. Im not sure if this is due to additional hormones too. Seek advice on perhaps alternative meds you could take whilst trying to conceive and ensure you have some good support on hand. The 2 years it took us caused lots of anxiety, but despite how i feel now, I'm glad we have got there in the end, as mentioned, being pregnant brings its own worries and anxieties. Good luck and defiantly take each day as it comes.

I had my baby 6 months ago and all the docs recommended I stay on my anti depressants (Prozac). After I had my baby I stopped them which was a really bad idea. I've had to restart them. It's not an easy choice to have to make but you also need to weigh out postpartum depression/anxiety as well and make sure you won't be high risk. But like lilygirl said one day at a time. Just don't let yourself suffer like I did because I thought I could go without. Now I'm cleaning up a big mess that probably could have been prevented.
