Well, let's see if I can make this short. First things first, I am 30 years old have been diagnosed with Aspergers, Depression, anxiety and am bipolar. With this combo you would think I would be on disability, but am not.
I married my husband 3 years ago and in that time I have have had multiple jobs. I am currently unemployed and prefer to be unemployed mainly for anxiety issues involving difficulties with interaction with others. I've tried to find jobs that doesn't require being in front of people or talking to people, but can't find anything. I've worked in back rooms (unloading trucks) several times, but once it's unloaded i have to go out and face people that ask questions while I try to work. It's difficult for me to get things done at the time I'm expected to have them done, but then add on top of that people interrupting my work and it is just bad...
What I am getting at is, my husband is getting stressed with all of the bills being his responsibility which I completely understand. His stress makes me feel guilty because I feel like I should go out and get a job, but when you have so many things working against you it's not easy. It's kind of a lose, lose for me because if I work I feel depressed because I can't keep up and am so exhausted all the time, but if I don't work I feel guilty because he has to pay all of the bills himself. I really don't know what to do.
My husband is an avid hunter and I really worry that if I were to get disability he wouldn't be allowed to have guns around me because of my diagnoses'. I am pretty stable and am not a threat to anyone. I have a psychologist that I go to and she has done a lot of testing to make sure that I am okay to be around guns and the such. Does anyone have experience with this?
My husband is very supportive of any decision that I make. I just want to make sure that I make the best decision for us. Thanks for any help/advice.

I don't know much about collecting disability, but if your husband did need to keep his guns out of the house, is there somewhere else he could store them? Maybe a storage unit, in his car, or at a friends house?

Where we live is away from family. Most of his "friends" are ex-coworkers that we just don't really know well enough to ask that of them. I have one friend and she has 3 young boys that can't be around them for similar reasons and doesn't have the room for them so that's out of the question.

Actually that could work: you could do the job while they are out, leave an invoice in the letterbox, they can pay you - not much interaction and gardening is wonderful fun.
