Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...
Sounds to me like you are obsessing over eating. Obsession causes anxiety which can then lead to indegestion bowel problems and all sorts of other digestive tract disorders. I think your problem lies with the relaitionship you have with food. Id see a therapist and see if with help you can unravel your relaitionship with food so you dont get anxious over it which in turn will improve your digestive abilitys.
Shrugs i am no expert by any means but for what its worth thas what i think
I have been trying to eat more to put ON weight after a very difficult 18months. I'd find if i ate a big, heavy dinner within an hour i'd have pains, and feel a weird digestive feeling but like it wasn't digesting! I was told to NOT try so hard. To just eat when i was hungry, to graze but eat more meat. Simple!
I think you have to remember just how complex our insides are! The noises your body makes you don't have to analyze too much. We gurgle and rumble when hungry but also it is common after you've eaten. It's a sign your body is already breaking down and digesting your food.
I agree that the emotional state you've been in has affected your anxiety, digestion and issues with food and your OCD. Mine is very much based to how i am feeling/anxiety too.
You might be better getting back to a routine, but have small regular meals and snacks. Your body can get used to and break down.
Also look at the nutritional aspects, for your body may not be getting what it needs from food.
I recently learnt that drinking too much fluid with food isn't good for me, it washes away the nutrients in my food too quickly. I always thought i was hydrating! But i was actually not, and i wondered why i felt bloated and slushy at times.
be kind to yourself. if you are feeling blah, have the toast. if you are feeling great, have a bit more. take your time to chew, eat and appreciate your food. thinking about it is going to make your stomach, spleen and liver all go into overdrive, for they are related to the mind! ( i get acupuncture and am learning alot!).
Maybe try for a simple breakfast
tea and a snack for morning tea
toast with something nutritious on it for lunch- avocado, tomato or something?
snack in the arvo- nuts etc
have something in the evening that isn't too hard to break down, and maybe having it earlier is better.
it's ok to be hungry later, you can always have a bit more toast, some fruit or bikkies (i am bad with that!).
The main thing is to remain calm. Anxiety does that i know. Also, if you have a favourite place to eat, that is ok. Just do it gently.
