I also take klonopin as an as needed basis. I also see a natural path and chiro. I think that if meds are causing more harm than good for you or your husband I would rather experience the anxiety and or depression than staying in bed for days.
Everyone is different and meds work for some and too many side effects for others. I took something for 10 years and had a bad experience, but everyone reacts differently. (I don't want to exclude people who need meds and this is just my opinion).
From what I have read and know that meds treat symptoms but do not actually deal with the root cause. Sometimes our bodies are nutritionally deprived as well and we do not have enough vitamins and minerals to sustain due to high stress levels.
It was great for a while but then I had throat surgery a couple of months ago and the meds and feeling in my throat brought my panic attacks with a vengeance. So I put myslef back on the lorazepam and it helps to take the edge off. I also started to listening to some anxiety CBT programs, looked into meditation and tapping and went the whole last week with no meds. But then last night, I had a nightmare that where my throat was closing up on my and I couldn't breathe and I woke up in a MAJOR panic attack for the first time ever from sleep. So I took the lorazepam and it helped. I'm still debating on whther or not I can handle this anxiety(which has not gone away since this morning) and lack of sleep(I woke up after only 3 hours sleep) without the lorazepam. In short, lorazepam works to take the edge off so you might want to talk to your doc about that. Just try not to be depenadnat on it, rather use it to cover the symptoms while you learn to understand and control your anxiety.
