But I remember when I have walked away from jobs that a second wave of panic sets in when I realize how much darn work it is to get another job out there, slim pickings right now.
At first it is great to walk away from an abusive workplace no doubt, but I think it is better when we start a certain way of thinking: while in jobs always be informed what else is out there.
I only stay in my job to make ends meet like so many other people I am sure, but my main interest is in furthering my businesses that I am running. The job is secondary, but that does not mean I do not do good work at both.
(1) fast food, nobody wanted to speak english, and I don't know spanish, leaving me constantly confused, extremely stressful when every little task requires teamwork.
(2) fast food again, literally got YELLED at while standing at the front counter in the busy restaurant by a manager (I was trying to say something to him about a customer, he kept cutting me off mid-sentence basically saying whatever, then decided yelling was appropriate), the sweetest older woman gave me a butterscotch candy and told me not to worry about him, but I never went back.
(3) admin. assistant, I had to call every. single. day to ask if they wanted me to work that day, 100% of the time didn't answer right away, 75% of the time didn't call me back at all, I spent entire days stressing out about them possibly calling me, one day I just stopped calling.
