Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. Before I started on meds, I had a high-pressure job, and it was like fighting a war each day in order to do my job well. I also found it difficult to do simple things, such as sitting at a table and eating (whether in a restaurant or at home) without having anxiety or panic. My panic attacks tended to be constant and brutal.
So I think the answer is to weigh everything and ask yourself if you really need Klonopin - if you get to the point where you are so depleted and tired from fighting the panic that your quality of life overrides any possible side effects, you will know that it is a positive thing to be on Klonopin, if it works for you -
As I said, I have been on 6 mg. a day for 15 years, and I am not aware of any side effects, including memory loss. The only problem is that, after all these years of taking it, it is starting to lose effectiveness, finally, and I now take a lower dose of Klonopin and supplement with Zoloft. Although I'm OK, I don't feel as well as I did when I was on the higher Klonopin dose. If I ever get to the point where it would work as well for me again, I wouldn't hesitate to return to the 6 mg a day.
