I have a beagle. My vet said (when I rescued him he was 2) that "beagles eat anything. He had so many problems and wasn't socialized that I began to use food treats to motivate him. Then I was in an MVA and can't get much exercise. He needs to run. His breed is a nose and four feet. I'm worried about his weight gain of ...God, I can hardly say this...20 pounds. I don't have a treadmill nor know how to use one. I have had him on strict rations, but his weight is stuck on the same number. Now if I give him a treat, it's string beans or a piece of bisquit the size of an aspirin. The only exercise that I can do now is go to the gym and swim laps. No dogs allowed.
Could I please get some help with this. All my vet does is say, "I told you so." And she did.
I'm disabled from a car accident. Mine got hit by a bus. I got a treadmill for my beagle. I want him to be healthy and live as long as possible. He's my BFF. I had to train him with food to socialize him after I rescued him. The vet said that beagles will eat anything. It was difficult, but he's now Mr. Personality and loves dogs, cats, and people. He's afraid of the herd of deer on my land, though. sara
and seemed to be "socialized." sara-Haha
