My new fur baby has made tremendous strides in just 3 days !
Since my last post she is now walking on a leash to go out.
No longer as nervous. Seems to understand I am here to love & help her.
I took her off the leash and sat outside with her today .......and she looked at me and walked a few feet away & peeed !!!!! I'm sooooo proud of this gentle soul !
And last but not least she now trusts me and waits for me to invite her in to go inside :-)
Many Thanks to St. Francis !
He needed a long time to get used to all the noises in the house and certain things would freak him out. for example a wheelie bin on the pavement. a couple of times he managed to pull his head through his collar and he ran home.
It took patience but it was worth it. sounds like you are doing a great job. She is a lucky dog. Enjoy your fur baby : )
My greyhound died four years ago age 14, I had him for 11 years. They were the best years that i had.
I rescued a lurcher from a local dog home and he is total opposite, nothing phases him he is so chilled he is horizontal. He had been abandoned and was very malnourished, you cannot turn away if you put food down or it is gone ! : )
Adopting adult dogs is so rewarding and amazing discovering their characters.
Good luck with your fur baby
I appreciate knowing I'm doing good.
Every day this darling baby get's easier and more relaxed.
And I also love to hear stories about others :-)
In case you didn't see my earlier post cottontail I was loved by a rescue racing greyhound too !
Just like you mine had never been in a home, didn't know how to climb steps, etc....
But we had him for 121/2 years before he died died at just short of 14 .
One of the best dogs in this gals 62 years !!
(((Hugs))) Kaley
if our animals seem constipated i give them milk as cats and dogs are lactose intolerant and it gets it all out of them and its painless. in england they give the animals a small amount of milk nightly to keep them regular. different school of thought.
what breed is your new rescue? .
My new fur baby is beagle and German shepherd
I have a photo of her on my home page. Her name is Gracie.
Thanks for your advice about milk, I never knew that !
YOU ARE DOING WELL, JUST BE CAREL WITH THE LETTING OUT OF LEASH , UNTIL YOU ARE SURE THAT ITS TOTALLY SAFE, MY OSCAR WAS ALWAYS SCARED AND THAT MADE HIM AGGRESSIVE, WE KEPT HIM AWAY FROM OTHER DOGS BUT HE LOVED OUR DOG,AND THEY WERE BEST FRIENDS, EVEN SLEEPING IN THE SAME BASKET.
LOVE TO YOU AND GRACIE, HAVE A WONDERFUL LIFE**
